Zettai Ryouiki: ABSOLUTE TERRITORY

It shocks me to say this, but even to this day I learn something new about anime, or otaku culture that I had no idea existed before. A perfect example of this is the term Zettai Ryouiki, which roughly translates into “Absolute Territory.”

So what it is exactly? Explain! Well let me just give you a simple summary and a bit of hype. Zettai Ryouiki is possibly the most attractive moe trait a girl can posses. If used correctly a girl can subdue an entire country of rabid otaku. It has the power to destroy nations, and carries such unbelievable deadly power, that men will find themselves falling head over heels in love unable to explain how or why. It’s not scandalous, and doesn’t require and under handed tactics to intice the heart of men. We aren’t talking about pantsu shots, no, no, nothing as sketchy as that. We are talking about Zettai Ryouiki, one of the most destructive moe traits the world has ever seen. So without further ado, the definition is….drumroll.

Zettai Ryouiki, “Absolute Territory” is the area between a (mini)skirt and socks. The most moe-inspiring trait a female character can have. Very common for tsunderes.
The correct ratio is 4:1:2.5, the 4 being the length of the skirt, the 1 being Zettai Ryouiki and the 2,5 being the length of sock above the knee.

Now I know what you are all thinking. “Are you fucking kidding me?” But no, it’s real, and you know what? It’s awesome. To better explain here are some illustrations gathered by ADD, a fellow anime blog, in an editorial written by tsubaki.

“Zettai Ryouiki, has 5 levels ranging from Grade A to E. In my own opinion, only Grade A and B is really considered perfect, but everyone has to start from the bottom, so let’s start with Grade E.”

“Grade E is the lowest level of all, to the point it can be worn by both males and females. This can be usually sighted in primary schools around Singapore. The sock is raised at 16cm and leaves plenty of flesh, yet for some strange reason, it is less appealing, especially on guys with hairy legs.”

“Grade D is the start of the ankle sock rebellion. I was once part of this rebellion, wearing my socks to the Grade D level in a protest to my school for not allowing us to wear ankle socks. However, I was a foolish young teen back then. I didn’t understand what the schools were fighting to save.

Now when I look back at it, I wished I was enlightened earlier. Grade D socks are raised at 26cm above the shoe, and it is the start of the ultimate revolution.”

“Grade C is the start of the Zettai Ryouiki formation, albeit an unattractive level. The sock is raised to 35cm off the shoes, but does not cross above the knee cap. The level is the hardest level for Grade A and B users to climb to. The discomfort in having your socks just below your knee cap is somewhat uncomfortable to the flesh because it is usually unbounded by anything.”

“If you have withstood the uncomfortable threshold and ride your socks high, welcome to Grade B. The semi-prefect state of Zettai Ryouiki. With the sock raised at 50cm, you have reached the zone of no return. You will no longer be at a position where people think that you’ve bought socks too long for you, but the power of controlling the lustful eyes of people.”

It’s an unexplainable power that something so covered can be far more attractive than a completely naked leg. This some what explains why the Talibans like their woman covered. I guess somewhere programmed in us, likes a code that craves to be covered.

“The ultimate 57cm sock, with just barely enough space for skin exposure, and yet the most powerful and sensual symbol of them all. This is one sock to rule them all. This is truly a rare sight in Singapore because it poses a danger to the climate here. Too much of this and Singapore will turn into Dubai faster than you can say ZETTAI RYOUIKI!”

Starting with some of the newer shows, Toradora’s Taiga is definitely considered to be a proud upholder of the Zettai Ryouiki tradition. Can’t wait to watch the first ep. CANT WAIT.

In conclusion, screw pantsu, screw every other moe trait you thought was awesome, then multiply it by ten thousand and you get the godly power that is thigh high stockings. I kid, but really, I can’t be the only one who finds this AMAZINGLY attractive can I…?
