Rika Furude Dakimakura Surprise!~

Posted by sunggyu on June 30, 2009

8894127e6760b6001ccc578c68586704You will snuggle with me~

There are two things that have prevented me from purchasing a dakimakura in the past.

  1. The outrageous price.
  2. Very few dakimakura designs appeal to me.

With that said, a few weeks ago while watching the third episode of Higurashi Rei, I was doing some research and was made aware of a certain Rika dakimakura that would come bundled with the Limited Edition DVD of the third episode of Rei. At 104 dollars, the price was no laughing matter, but temptation got the best of me, and I decided to go ahead and purchase it. There were a few factors I used to justify this otherwise outrageous purchase. I reasoned with myself that dakimura cost upwards to 100 dollars to begin with, so the fact that this bundle comes with the actual Higurashi Rei DVD would only be a plus, after all, I wasn’t buying the DVD for the pillowcase. That would be absurd…= P

In any case, it ended up being a huge impulse buy that I soundly regretted later. Even so, I buckled down and accepted my sordid mistake and vowed never to buy otaku goods on a whim ever again; a bitter lie, coming from a man without a cent left in his pocket. In the end after I finally received the shipment, I ended up being quite happy with my purchase. Don’t get me wrong, snuggling with a Rika dakimakura is something I have only DREAMED of, but a poor college student needs to put his priorities straight. Rika, or rent, that’s one hell of a tough call. In any case, none of you actually care about the process in which I bought my dakimakura, so  I’ll show off some pictures now since that’s all you folks probably want to see.

Supercell ft. Hatsune Miku is Super Awesome

Posted by sunggyu on March 9, 2009

sample-c20eb1e2fef64e2fa0569b3c43c128bcBRS <3

Hurah, my glorious return to blogging. My entries may be a bit infrequent, but at least I’m back. I’ve never really been a die hard Miku Hatsune fan, but I decided to purchase the Supercell album, if only because I have heard most of the songs on the album before, most notably Black Rock Shooter, and I love the art. What I wasn’t expecting was a kickass CD, and a fantabulous mini artbook. Overall the CD is produced fairly well, with some fantastic accompanying instrumentals from Supercell, and of course Miku sounds as good as a computer synthesized voice can get. Was it worth the price? Well, nothing beats bumping Miku Hatsune on your car’s shitty sound system. The real kicker is the fact that I actually BOUGHT the CD which is unprecedented seeing as how my last ACTUAL CD purchase was sometime in 2007. That’s almost an entire year without having bought one CD. In any case, I would recommend getting the limited edition if there are any still available. Of course, there are pictures…^-^

TAMUSIC: The Symphony of Clannad, Kanon, and Air

Posted by sunggyu on January 29, 2009

4e3f281da905f2f7f63dc7639c5fcc61Play it again Kotomi, for old times sake…

Just a little side note for those who recognize the quote under the picture of the day, I am fully aware that isn’t the ACTUAL quote from the movie, but it just SOUNDS better. Anyway, on to the rest of the post.

Having been gifted with the ability to procrastinate with unmatched skill, as well as being armed with a working computer and internet connection has allowed me to amass gigabyte, upon gigabyte of music from every corner of the internet. Through my many journeys I have come across countless number of doujin artists, and amateur productions, and often more than not, I stand amazed, and in awe of the level of skill, and quality that some artists can produce. With that said, it has only been a year since that fateful day I came across a certain group of artists refered to as TAMUSIC.

Happy Chinese “Niu” Year!~

Posted by sunggyu on January 25, 2009

c0fbb7a1840fd747e32eca4266d99c53For those who got the pun, congratulations~

Consider this a late New Years post. I’ve been awfully busy lately, so finding time to blog,  just isn’t as easy. Which is a darn shame, since I’ve been up to quite a bit this past month.

In OTHER news, I received my Hayate Yagami 1/7 figurine by Alter today. I would take this time to comment on how unimaginably large the box is, but I think everyone pretty much knows it. I really underestimated the box size. I knew it would be big, but this son of a bitch is BIG. Don’t believe me? To the photos we go!

DJ Max Clazziquai Edition/Black Square: OSTs

Posted by sunggyu on December 26, 2008

Fuck, there goes another 2 months of my life down the drain…
DJ Max Portable Black Square is a music video game published and developed by Pentavision in South Korea for the Playstation Portable. Unlike DJ Max Clazziquai Edition, this game is far more difficult, and aimed at hardcore fans of the series. The series ALWAYS has some of the best art around, gathering talents from both Korea, and Japan. The music is some of the best in rhythm games, so it’s always a pleasure to listen through these OSTs.

Personal Opinion: Just as good if not better than Clazziquai edition. This OST really has it all, and not to mention some of the most well produced tracks out of the DJ Max series. For anyone who is looking for a OST with a wide variety of style’s and genres, you should definitley check this one out. You won’t be disappointed! There also a special remix CD that contains new mixes of all the head tracks. That’s 4 CD’s in one download. GOOD stuff!~So for those who are wondering where the OST is, I’ve done the honor of uploading it myself. Go ahead and enjoy it, I know I am.

Youtube PV’s:
Heart of Witch
Colors of Sorrow
Get Down
Shoreline
Fury
The Proposed, Flower, Wolf Part II
Honeymoon

RECOMMENDED songs in RED

Santa left me an early present…

sample-c5f1c7a5ed7be908c046825a0b1238d8How I love thee, my dear Minorin~, and Taiga too!~

I happened to stumble across Megami 103, and Megami Creators 13 on an outing a few weeks back, and I heartfuly picked up both issues. The total price was 20 dollars, not bad eh? Christmas season is in, and you know what that means. Ripping a hole in your wallet big enough to fit in a small hippo. Don’t think too much about that analogy, it doesn’t actually make sense. I’m just a wee bit too happy, I had no idea megami 103 came with a Toradora poster, so lucky me.

megami-001Hurray for moe consumerism!

Figure Review: Horo 1/8 PVC by Kotobukiya

Posted by sunggyu on December 1, 2008

horo-pvc-045

One might have already guessed, but photography, image editing, and most things that have to do with multimedia is not my field of expertise. I’ve been using a camera-phone for most of my posts, and obviously as a result, most of my images lack quality. So now that I have acquired a digital camera, you would expect the quality of the images to increase right? Well, right. The pics I took today of lovely goddess Horo are far superior to any of the other figurine reviews I have previously done, but with that said, I still need some advice, and some help on how to get the best out of my new digital camera. Some advice on how to optimize images on photoshop would also be helpful. Also helpful  tips on scanning, would be doubly helpful.

With that said, let’s get on with the review! Remember, don’t hound me for not bringing in A+ material to the game, I’m still relatively new to digital photography, and if the images appear to be sub-standard, please bear with me. I’m still learning how to use this new beast.

Figurines, Figurines, and more Figurines…

Posted by sunggyu on November 30, 2008

moe-43858-sampleI wish someone would translate this…

I’ve been busy these days with work and school, so I haven’t had much time to blog, plus I’ve been sick for the past few days, which has only made things worse. Luckily I feel much better, and decided to review a figurine to celebrate. I did happen to get a digital camera, so the picture quality will be substantially better, although not by much since I am still getting used to it.

I bought a good deal of figurines over the past 2 months, and here is a brief rundown of them.
