Life’s Tribulations: Hara Hetta on Temporary Hiatus

Life has a funny way of throwing you curve balls at you during very important times. For the past few months I have been preoccupied with schoolwork, so much so that I had to quit my job, and cut down on blogging. However, very recently my grandmother contracted Phenomena, and I was informed that she was slowly recovering. I brushed it off, knowing that should we recover eventually, but after I returned home from an otaku outing with friends today, I received a phone call from the Good Samaritan Hospital in L.A. informing me that she has once again been admitted to the hospital, and was unconscious. They further explained that after an MRI, they could find no definitive problem. I later discussed the matter with my parents, whom I have been on rough terms for a year or so, making the matter even more painful. Later on the hospital called me once again and informed me that my grandmother had a clot of some sort, but would not be able to undergo any kind of surgery due to her age. At this point I’m still in the dark, and plan on visiting the hospital myself tomorrow and learn what her circumstances are.

My grandmother raised me for nearly my entire childhood, and I owe her my life. As I grew older, and started to become a bit more rebellious and became an obnoxious little delinquent, I treated my grandmother insensitively to say the least. I have always regretted being unable to give her an apology. It was because of many sacrifices on her part that I could grow up happy. I wanted to show her my gratitude, and to at least pay her back in some way, So I decided to start visiting and assisting her as long as I possibly can, even if it means taking time out of my own schedule.

So for the next few months, I will be driving back and forth between here and L.A. every few days and keeping my grandmother company, making sure she eats well, and just making sure she is happy and comfortable. Because of this, as well as my increasingly important school work, I’ll have almost no time to blog. I will still update as often as I possibly can, but keep in mind that many of my actives that are associated with anime and manga will be cut down severely. I’ll be sure to start blogging feverishly when things have settled down again, but I ask you guys be patient as this blog is on a temporary hiatus.

This will be my last entry for some time, and as promised here is the Shugo Chara OP/ED collection I have amassed. I wish I could post this entry on a lighter note, but things just aren’t looking up. Be sure to give credit to kitty87 at Zero Degrees for sharing this with me.

DJ Max Clazziquai Edition/Black Square: OSTs

Posted by sunggyu on December 26, 2008

Fuck, there goes another 2 months of my life down the drain…
DJ Max Portable Black Square is a music video game published and developed by Pentavision in South Korea for the Playstation Portable. Unlike DJ Max Clazziquai Edition, this game is far more difficult, and aimed at hardcore fans of the series. The series ALWAYS has some of the best art around, gathering talents from both Korea, and Japan. The music is some of the best in rhythm games, so it’s always a pleasure to listen through these OSTs.

Personal Opinion: Just as good if not better than Clazziquai edition. This OST really has it all, and not to mention some of the most well produced tracks out of the DJ Max series. For anyone who is looking for a OST with a wide variety of style’s and genres, you should definitley check this one out. You won’t be disappointed! There also a special remix CD that contains new mixes of all the head tracks. That’s 4 CD’s in one download. GOOD stuff!~So for those who are wondering where the OST is, I’ve done the honor of uploading it myself. Go ahead and enjoy it, I know I am.

Youtube PV’s:
Heart of Witch
Colors of Sorrow
Get Down
Shoreline
Fury
The Proposed, Flower, Wolf Part II
Honeymoon

Touhou anime now a reality!

Posted by sunggyu on December 8, 2008

8610d0ecc23b736944e456ced34ebf4dFor those who are wondering, the artist is Capura Lin. One of my favorites~

This news is actually pretty old in hindsight, since they announced this nearly a year ago, but check out Sankaku Complex for more details anyway.  Late news is still news to some. The name of the project is  Musou Kakyou, and is to be distributed as DVD’s at the upcoming comiket for 2,800 yen featuring an OST and other various goodies. Just know that although the project is under the care of a doujin studio, there are some big name seiyuu’s that will be lending their talent for this historic event. The animation and production work will be done by, Maikaze Studios. Haven’t heard of em? Neither have I…^-^ Go on over to their homepage for more details. http://maikaze.com/

Catalyst Shyne: A Musical Project

Posted by sunggyu on October 26, 2008

Well, if you guys didn’t know, I was a part of an amateur hip hop group in Alta Loma known as Catalyst Shyne. The project is pretty much dead, but with college apps almost done, we are planning on recording more songs in the upcoming months, so I’ll be sure too update some of our older tracks. If you wanna hear some more tracks us look us up on myspace. NO, we do not make our own beats, I know, how terrible of us. We don’t have the gear, but give us a listen anyway.

Back with another track for you guys. We took a lot of the criticisms and we tried to really push ourselves. We were quite passionate about this one, and we lots of work into this one. I think you’ll guys like it. This song is dedicated to one of our hyungs that died recently, and this song is a reflection of the confusion and how much of a loss we felt. It’s a bit darker than most of our other songs, but it really came from our hearts. In my opinion its the best song we’ve done so far, and how could it not? With such raw emotions flowing through us while we we’re working on this song, it’d be strange if it wasn’t our best song. I think this is the first song that truly came from our hearts, and not our heads. More criticisms will help us out. Thanks again for listening guys.

Learning to Draw All Things Moe: The Arduous Journey

Posted by sunggyu on October 14, 2008

FUCK MY LIFE. If only it were THAT easy…T~T

I have spent many a day trying to learn to draw anime. I took a few art classes, and practiced daily, but the reality was that I just didn’t get any better. It seems to me that learning to draw anime isn’t at all difficult, but requires a certain degree of talent, and a great deal of commitment and practice. I quit, I started again, I took a break, I quit, and I started again. But I have come to terms that I am no artist. Not just when it comes to anime, but just art in general. So why is it that learning to draw is so damn hard?

Spice and Wolf II Announced!

Posted by sunggyu on October 5, 2008

So there IS A GOD AFTER ALL!

After a lot of praying, and a lot of hoping. Spice and Wolf II has been announced. Read the news article taken from ANN.

The official Japanese website of the Wolf and Spice franchise has confirmed that a second television anime season has been green-lit. Director Takeo Takahashi and screenplay writer Naruhisa Arakawa will return for Spice and Wolf II. However, Toshimitsu Kobayashi (El Hazard: The Alternative World, Fate/stay night) will replace Kazuya Kuroda as the character designer and chief animation director. Likewise, the Brain’s Base studio (MazinKaiser, The Boy Who Saw the Wind) will be animating instead of IMAGIN. The anime adapts Isuna Hasekura and Jū Ayakura’s acclaimed novel series that avoids the usual sword-and-sorcery trappings of fantasy stories and focuses on how business (and religion) gets done in a medieval world — with a wolf girl. Jun Fukuyama and Ami Koshimizu will reprise their roles as the peddler Lawrence and the wolf girl Holo who embark on a journey together. (Source:ANN)

Oh dear God in heaven, thank you for this most wonderful news. I find it ironic this happened just a few days after I posted my Spice and Wolf review. Coincidence? Yes it is…^-^

The world’s strongest waifu!~
Another busy day at school seemed only longer because of the extra hour for the meeting. Jeez, if I knew how tiring organizing a club would have been, I would have reconsidered, nevertheless, things worked out fine. Positions have been determined, and a rough outline for our club has been drawn…sort of.
Positions are as follows:

A new WordPress blog, rebirth of blogging!

Posted by sunggyu on September 27, 2008

Konata-chan~Suki desu yo!

A new blog! Aren’t you all ecstatic?
I’ve been recently in a doujin frenzy downloading upwards to 40+ gigs within a week. Some would say it’s unheathly, but frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. So I decided why not keep a blog to monitor my daily otaku actions. Sounds like a blasty blast don’t it?

I have but one goal this year, and that is to visit Comiket 76. Since 75 will be in December, there isn’t a good chance I can make it, but August 09, you can hope to see me there. Speaking of Comiket, Comiket74 just wrapped up a few weeks ago, and I’ve been droning about the internet searching for Doujins and the like, and I’ll share the fruit of my spoils.

In any case, I have plans to visit Little Tokyo today with Andy and Taka. I’ll post some of my spoils when I get the chance. I’m planning on spending upwards to 150+ dollars there. So expect otaku goodies.

In any case, new blog, focuesed around anime. What a concept…^-^
